Home Information Packs will be compulsory from 1st June 2007. The government has imposed new and complicated regulations on to the residential property sale process with which all involved in residential property sales or purchases will need to become familiar. The immediate consequences will be very far reaching including new business arrangements and standard terms for all property sales agents search agents solicitors and other professionals involved in sales, a new "semi-skilled" profession of Home Inspectors and, in the long term, a complete record of the arrangement and condition all residential properties at the time of a sale.
